Senior Program Testimonials

We asked both parents and students to tell us what they thought
of their Senior Program experience this past summer. Here's what they had to say:

Being on the Yale campus was inspirational, and that alone gave a "jump-start" to college. I thought living in the dorms and in the social groups you created was an excellent experience. The girls became very close. Also the living group monitors provided just the right amount of leadership while allowing students to feel their own way.

This program exceeded our expectations beyond description. What couldn't be checked off in an answer box is the incredible environment that facilitated such close relationships being forged in a mere three weeks. From the moment we pulled the car up in front of the quad, the level of organization and ease with which the students were transitioned was nothing short of astonishing. The staff was incredibly helpful throughout the process. I would love for my daughter to return next summer but alas, that will be her decision. I do hope she returns as a college student to work for Exploration Summer Programs! The exposure she had during these three weeks couldn't possibly be packaged and marketed; I wish it could. My husband and I had only the slightest idea of what our daughter would take with her from this experience. We were delighted that it evolved into such an influential force for her, further shaping her into what and who she will become.

This was a great program for Elizabeth. She did a (shorter) college-based program last summer, but we liked Explo better...more choices, larger program, longer duration. She really got the feel for life on a college campus. We both liked the structure and the amount of free time; the level of supervision was just right.

I would like to thank Explo and the Explo staff. I learned some major life lessons and it has got me interested in things I didn't even know existed. Thanks again!

Thank you so much for a wonderful summer. I made so many friends while at Explo, and I had the opportunity to take classes and learn about so many unique subjects. I was introduced to so many new ideas and different forms of thinking. All of my teachers were engaging and obviously passionate about their subject. This past summer was one of the best summers of my entire life, and I want to thank you for creating such an incredible program.

Explo has been a perfect fit for our son, and we are big fans. For Gabe it opened up a world of opportunity to be the person he wanted to be, and it has been crucial to his confidence and now extended network of friends.

Kimberly had the BEST time there and she did not want to come home when it was all over. She has stayed in touch with a lot of people since she has been home and I believe has made some new friends for life. It was everything I wanted for her and more. It truly was a life changing experience for her. I have already told her sister to plan on going the summer before her senior year as well. I wish I could thank each and every one of the staff that made an impact for her.

I honestly don't know whether I want to come back next summer because I don't know if the experience could be any better. I seriously still talk to every single one of my suitemates every day. The atmosphere of the camp was very positive. Overall, the program was amazing and I feel comfortable in saying that those three weeks were the time of my life. Thanks so much!!

It's a once in a lifetime experience for me, and I had such an amazing time this summer. I would replay these 3 weeks again if I could. Also, I want to say that my RAs were absolutely amazing. The BEST RAs. We would talk about everything: from applying to college, to taking AP tests, to friends, to teacher horror stories.

I especially liked my Model UN and Museum Study courses, the living group time, and the main events! I liked all my new friends at Explo and it is really an awesome experience for me! I will be looking forward to coming back! Thank you all!
Great experience! She LOVED it and made lifelong friends. Great opportunity to try courses that were career oriented, as opposed to academic. Loved when she called home on how to do laundry, and that she and her roommate were buying a swiffer to clean their common room!!!! She grew and matured a lot and can't wait for college now. I highly reccommend the program and look forward to her brothers attending in a few years!

Your program is well thought out and well worth the tuition. The course offerings were just right in my opinion. Everything we wanted our daughter to gain from the program was accomplished and then some. My daughter would definitely like to participate in your program next summer. Congratulations on running such a superior program.

Our daughter had a marvelous summer and we were extremely impressed with how well the program was administrated. The staff was warm, responsible, and fun. The courses were terrific. Our daughter loved everything about the program! She grew so much as a person and we couldn't have asked for a better program to launch her into her senior year of high school and her journey into college. We'd recommend this program to anyone and we hope to send our son in a few years! Thanks so much!

Words don't fully express how full my heart is in knowing that my daughter has truly experienced the best summer of her almost 17 years of life. During our drive back home from New Haven, CT to Washington, DC, I saw the subtle signs of maturity and confidence in her. I look forward to learning more about her experience throughout the rest of the summer. Thank you for providing such a wonderful experience.

My daughter loved the program. It was the best summer ever for her.

Explo is my second home. I loved almost every minute of it. The staff are fantastic, the classes are great, and I love the balance between academics and free time. Explo is the perfect summer camp for me, as I wanted an academic experience that didn't involve intense homework. I will always remember my Explo summers. The three weeks feel like three seconds, and my only regret is not finding out about Explo sooner.

My daughters were hesitant to go to your program because they felt it was one of those things that parents try to lay on them that is not necessary. They were convinced it would be terrible. They came back very excited about the whole experience. I especially appreciated the Princeton Review Course for both of them. They both improved SAT scores and gained the confidence to believe that college was doable. Overall, I think that they will be more successful in gaining access to colleges that they believed were not in reach. The fact that they had so much fun doing it was icing!

The course entitled "Your Daily Show" was absolutely wonderful! My younger daughter thought it was one of the most interesting and fun courses she had ever taken. My older daughter, who is normally a bit shy and reserved, really gained confidence over the summer and made very close friends at Explo. Neither of my daughters wanted the program to end.

The courses were excellent, and it's a big plus that the Senior Program is located at Yale. The staff is also one of the best I've seen at any summer program. They are very competent, and their enthusiasm sometimes surpassed even that of the students. Explo's goals are also very clear. I met a lot of people from all across the US and the world, and I got to try a lot of new stuff I normally wouldn't do.
