Arrival + Departure Information

Below are details about our Arrival and Departure procedures. If you have any questions, please contact our Admissions Office.

EXPLO knows that flights can be delayed. That's why on opening day we keep staff at Logan International Airport until we've picked up all students who have scheduled flights during our regular pick up times — even if those flights are very late.

When going home, we stay at the Logan International Airport until all student flights are in the air. We know you would not take chances with your children, and neither will we.

Residential Student Arrival Information

Registration for residential students begins at 1:00pm and ends at 5:00pm, at which point parents and guardians will be asked to leave so that the Program can get under way.

PLEASE NOTE — We cannot accommodate early arrivals. EXPLO is not responsible for the supervision or well-being of any student arriving on St. Mark's campus before 1:00pm on Arrival Day.

TRAVEL BY PLANE — We will have staff at Boston's Logan Airport from noon until approximately 6:00pm. Our staff will be assigned to meet each student arriving by plane at the gate. They will be wearing bright orange EXPLO T-shirts and will have EXPLO photo IDs. If at all possible, schedule flights to arrive between 1:00pm and 5:00pm. The earlier students arrive, the earlier they can get settled and begin to meet people. If a child arrives a little early, tell him or her to wait in the gate area. If a flight arrives early by 25+ minutes, have your child call us at 508.786.1350. We will be answering phones, and are in touch with our airport staff via cell phone. We will escort children from the airport to St. Mark's and help them get settled. Students flying alone will call their parents/guardians upon arrival at St. Mark's to let them know they have arrived safely. We encourage families to book their students' transportation through our travel partner, Colpitts World Travel, at 781.326.7800, ext. 460.

STUDENT INSTRUCTIONS — Please ask your child to wear the EXPLO T-shirt which will be sent to them before the program begins. Students should get off the plane and look for staff in bright orange EXPLO T-shirts at the gate. If they cannot find our staff members or they are early, have them call 508.786.1350.

UNACCOMPANIED MINORS — Due to increased security measures at Logan Airport, only children flying as "Unaccompanied Minors" may be met at the gate. EXPLO recommends all EXPLO at St. Mark's students fly as "Unaccompanied Minors." If you have any questions, please call our Norwood office (781.762.7400).

TRAVEL BY CAR — Drivers may pull up in front of the dorms long enough to unload baggage. Drivers are asked not to leave their cars in front of the main entrance. Once unloaded, park cars on the perimeter of the West Campus playing fields and in back of Thieriot dormitory.

Residential Student Departure Information

All students MUST depart the program by NOON.

Our buses will take students to the airport from approximately 5:00am until noon and we will have staff at the airport until 2:00pm, if necessary. Please make sure your child’s flight departs Logan between 8:00am and 1:00pm. Our staff will stay with students until students board their planes or until students have formally been placed in custody of airline staff members.

* Note for Residential Students Attending Two Sessions:
On Saturday, July 21, 2012, first session residential students will be departing. New residential students will arrive the next day. Parents or friends may want to sign out six-week students on Saturday. Students leaving campus should be picked up by 12:00pm on Saturday and returned to the program on Sunday between the hours of 1:00pm and 5:00pm. Students should sign in and out at the Main Office since we will not have staff available on campus to be with students. We take all six-week students remaining on campus on an extended Saturday trip, featuring lunch, dinner, and evening entertainment. This allows us to clean and freshen the dorms for the next session's students arriving the next day. Students who participate in our afternoon/evening trip on Saturday, July 21, will be charged $90.
